Ingredients for rasam podi (rasam mixture)
Black pepper - 3/4 tsp
Cumin seeds - 2 tsp
Red chilli - 2 nos
Corriander seeds 1 tsp
Toor dhal - 1 tsp
Ingredients for seasoning
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard - 1/4 tsp
Asafoetida - 1 pinch
Red chilli - 2 nos
Ingredients for rasam
Tamarind - 1 pea size ball
Tomato - 1 no
lemon juice - 1/4 cup
garlic - 2 cloves crushed
Ginger - 1 inch piece
Green chilli - 1 nos split in half
Curry leaf - 5 nos
corriander leaves - 1 string
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
sambar powder - 1/2 tsp
Toor dhal cooked - 1/4 cup
Water - 3 cups

Preparation Method
Grind the ingredients for rasam podi into a powder and keep aside.
Smash the tomato and tamarind in 2 cups of water, add all the ingredients for rasam. Keep aside.
Heat oil in the pan and add mustard when its done popped add asafoetida, red chilli and the rasam mixture. When it boils reduce the heat to low, alow it to cook for 10 min. Now add rasam podi and let it boil for another 10 min. Finally add lemon juice and turn off the heat. Convert it in a freash clean bowl and serve.
