All about Rasam

After having the main dish sambar/kuzhambu/kuruma/etc we complete the main course with Rasam. Rasam helps digestion. You can drink it or mix it with white rice. Similar to Sambar, Rasam is a famous dish in South India, recently the delicacy is spreading all over India. Unlike Sambar, Rasam is best goes with Rice only.

All Rasam Receipes (100% vegetarian)

 

 

Basic preparation of Rasam requires Tamarind water. Sometimes Toor dal can also be added to make rasam. Typically this way of preparation is done when we dont make main dish Sambar/Kuzhambu but have only Rasam. Both about Tamarind water and Toor dal are explained in Sambar page.

Mostly Rasam is a 100% vegetarian dish. Rare cases are there when its non-vegetarian. For eg: Kozhi rasam (Chicken rasam)
