Capsicum

Capsicum is an imported vegetable. However it has found a special place in our cuisine and we have a Tamil name also, Kudai Milagai. "Kudai" means "Umbrella" and "Milagai" as you know means "Chilli". The name is derived by the appearance of capsicum.

In present day, Tamil cuisine and in general Indian cuisine, Capsicum plays a major role. In Tamil cusine, there are various ways of using "Kudai Milagai":

Capsicum cut:
Cut Capsicums are used as a main vegetable ingredient in Sambar. Some times Capsicum is used as an additional ingredient to Potato fry and in general any veg or non-veg saute.

Capsicum shredded:
Capsicum shredded is used in salad.
