Carrot

The Tamil name for Carrot is "Carrot". Carrot is an imported vegetable. However it has found a special place in our cuisine.

In present day, Tamil cuisine and in general Indian cuisine, Carrot plays a major role. In Tamil cusine, there are various ways of using "Carrot":

Carrot cut:
Cut carrots are used in curry, kuruma, pickles, fry. It is used as a main and only ingredient or as an additional ingredient to a dish. For example, in the potato fry, you can add carrots. Carrot and beans is a good saute combo for side dish.

Carrot grated:
Carrot poriyal is made using grated carrot.
Grated carrots are also used to make carrot rice (Variety rice).
