Fenugreek

The Tamil name for Fenugreek is "Vendhayam".

In present day, Tamil cuisine and in general Indian cuisine, Fenugreek plays a major role. In Tamil cusine, there are various ways of using "Vendhayam":

Fenugreek seeds:
A few fenugreek seeds are fried in oil before making certain dishes. These seeds are used in making batter for Idli / Dosai. Eating a few of these seeds helps in digestion. Very effective. NOTE: Do not bite these seeds as they are very strong, just swallow them with water if required.

Fenugreek leaves:
In Tamil cuisine, there are several dishes we make using green Fenugreek leaves. It has medicinal values. We can make sambar and kootu with Fenugreek leaves.
