Ghee

Ghee in Tamil language is "Nei" or "Ney".

Ghee is a milk product.

We make Ghee at home. While detailed recipe is on the way, lets see the simply steps here. We make milk into curd, then churn the curd to make Butter, from there we simmer butter to make Ghee.

It is very healthy and delicious too.

We add Ghee on top of Sambar. When we have Sambar, we put hot steamed rice in the plate, then add sambar on top of the rice. On top of Sambar, now add a spoon ful of Ghee. Then mix and eat. This gives a whole new taste to Sambar.

We also add Ghee to make a special Ghee roast Dosai.

Ghee can be used in place of oil to make other dishes.

While Ghee is good and supposed to be used for Vegetarian dishes, nowadays, there are non-veg dishes available in restaurants where Ghee is used instead of Oil, for example Ghee roasted Chicken.

Spelling variations in Tamil name for Ghee:
Ney, Nei, Neyi, Neyyi
