Green gram

The Tamil name for Green gram is "Pasi paruppu".

In present day, Tamil cuisine and in general Indian cuisine, Green gram plays a major role. In Tamil cusine, there are various ways of using "Pasi paruppu":

Green gram boiled:
Boil Green gram in cooker. Use them for making Sundal, Sambar for break-fast.
Note: Before boiling, soak them in water over night.

Few Green grams as part of other ingredients:
Few Green grams are used to add taste and experience texture while eating several dishes.

Deep fried Green gram:
Deep fried Green grams (Moong dal as it is famously known in Hindi throughout India) mixed with a little chilli powder and salt makes a great savoury. Goes well with evening snack along with Chai (tea) or Coffee.
