The Tamil name for Turmeric is "Manjal".

The use of Turmeric in Tamil cuisine is there for ages. Other than cuisine, Turmeric is used in taking bath. Traditionally Tamil women use Turmeric stick to wash their face.

In present day, Tamil cuisine and in general Indian cuisine, Turmeric plays a major role. In Tamil cusine, there are various ways of using "Manjal":


Turmeric powder:
This is one important spice that is used for cooking veg and non-veg foods, curries and side dishes. Very good medicinal values. When Turmeric powder is mixed with powder from other spices you get mouth watering masala's.
