Cumin

The Tamil name for Cumin is "Seeragam", sometimes pronounced as "Jeeragam".

In present day, Tamil cuisine and in general Indian cuisine, cumin plays a major role. In Tamil cusine, there are various ways of using "Seeragam":

Cumin seeds:
A few cumin seeds are fried in oil before making certain dishes.

Powdered Cumin seeds:
Cumin seeds are dried, milled and powdered. This is the most common form of use.

Popular dish where Cumin is used:
Almost all non-veg meat dishes and Briyani and some veg dishes.
Mutton kuruma, Chicken fry
