Fish names and photos

This is Kaalan - called as Indian Sea Salmon in English:

This is how we cut for cooking in Tamil style - both for fry and kuzhambu (curry/gravy):

For some fish, the head of the fish can be used for making fry or kuzhambu. In the below example we made Kulambu using this Kaalan head (Indian Salmon head):

This is Kizhanga called as Lady fish in English:
As you can note from previcous example, the head is cut off and it is not used for frying or kulambu. If we have little bigger size Lady fish, then that head can be used while frying along with the fish body
