Vadai

Vadai is an important side dish or add-on to the meal during festival days.

Vadai is also a day to day snack item. Goes well with Chai (Tea) or Filter Coffee.

Vadai is a fry. Some vadai looks like a donut (but not sweet like donuts), for example Medhu Vadai.

There are plenty of types of Vadai. Most common are
Other types of Vadai include traditional and healthy
1. Keerai vadai - made out of spinach or other edible leaves
2. Vazhaipoo vadai - made from the flower of Plantain/Banana tree. Poo in Tamil language means flower and Vazhai means Banana or Plantain
3. Pudhina vadai - Mint leaves are main ingredients in this one
4. Kadhamba vadai - Mix vegetables are main ingredients

Usually Vadai is Vegetarian. There is one exception which is Prawn Vadai. It is a delicious snack. This dish is usually home made. The base mixture for this is almost similar to Masala Vadai and the main difference is Prawns/Shrimp pieces are added.
