Almond

The Tamil name for Almond is "Badham kottai".
Just "Badham" also means "Almond". "Kottai" basically means "Nut".

In present day, Tamil cuisine and in general Indian cuisine, Almond plays a major role. In Tamil cusine, there are various ways of using "Badam":

Almond raw:
We eat raw almonds for health benefits.
We use almonds for making badam milk, a drink made with badam as main ingredient.
Almonds are also used in cooking.
In north Indian cuisine, Almonds are made into a paste and used for making curry.

Popular dish where Almond is used:
You can add in all desserts/sweets, two of them that quickly comes to your mind is Payasam and Kesari.
