Tamil language name for Prawn / Shrimp is Era / Eral.

Prawn / Shrimp is considered to be good for health and it gives instant stamina.

Before cooking, the cleaning process of Shrimp is very important. You will have to remove the shell, the head and most importantly the thin blackish line that goes in the center of the body, which you can identify and remove once the head is chopped off.

The famous dish is Shrimp fry (Eral Varuval), which is great with rice. We can eat this with steamed rice mixed with a main dish like Sambar or you can put steamed rice in the pan that you just made the fry and mix them - like fried rice. This makes a great main dish.

Tamil cuisine style Prawn / Shrimp dishes are famous not only in India but also in other Asian countries like Singapore, Malaysia.
