Podalangai Poriyal

Podalangai is a traditional vegetable. Podalangai Poriyal is simple to make, it is delicious and super healthy.

Clean and split the Pudalangai vertically in two.
Remove the inside softy seedy portion.
Slice them into thin pieces.

Heat water in a pan and cook the Podalangai along with a pinch of turmeric powder until it gets soft. This should take approximately 7 min.

Now let us do the tempering.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds when it splatters add urad dal.

When it turns golden brown add curry leaves, green chili and chopped shallots, fry for 2 min.

Add cooked Pudalangai (from step 2) along with salt and grated coconuts and fry for 2 min.

Transfer to a bowl and serve hot for the lunch course.
