Potato fry

Potato fry (Ourulaikizhangu varuval) is a most popular side dish.

Varuval in Tamil language translates to Fry in English. "Potato Fry" in Tamil language is "Ourulaikizhangu Varuval".

Please note that this is not a deep fry like French fries.

Clean the Potato(Urulai kizhangu) in running water and dice them to small size pieces, we can have them both with and without skin based on our preference.

Now let us do the tempering.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds when it splatters add urad dal.
Wait till it turns golden brown.

Now add the chopped potato along with salt and all the masala powder listed in the ingredients.

Fry in medium to low flame till it gets cooked and crispy.

Transfer to a bowl and serve hot for the lunch/meal course.
